More than 96% of voters in Nghe An agree with the plan to merge communes

According to the results of the voter opinion survey on the rearrangement of administrative units at the commune level in Nghe An province, 96.1% of voters agree with the commune merger plan.

The voting results at the sessions of the People's Council (PC) also show a high level of agreement: 96.24% at the commune level and 95.53% at the district level.

Currently, Nghe An province has 412 administrative units at the commune level, including 362 communes, 33 wards, and 17 townships. The proposed arrangement is expected to reduce the number of administrative units at the commune level to 130, a decrease of 282 units (equivalent to 68.45%). Specifically, the province will retain 11 wards and 119 communes.

This afternoon, on April 28, at the 28th Session (Special Session), the Nghe An Provincial People's Council will consider, discuss, and approve a Resolution on the plan to rearrange administrative units at the commune level in Nghe An province for 2025.

After the resolution is passed by the Provincial People's Council, the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee will prepare the dossier for the 2025 commune-level administrative unit arrangement and submit it to the Government before May 1, 2025. Based on this, the Ministry of Interior will evaluate and prepare the Government’s proposal to submit to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly for consideration and approval before May 30, 2025.
