A representative of the Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company stated that interprovincial passenger transport businesses had prepared vehicles and manpower a month in advance to meet the high travel demand during the Tet holiday. Passenger traffic at bus stations is anticipated to increase significantly compared to regular days.

Specifically, the company has arranged approximately 550 vehicles from more than 60 passenger transport companies in Nghe An and other provinces. Additionally, reserve vehicles from other transport companies will be mobilized if demand spikes. It is projected that the Nghe An Bus Station Joint Stock Company will transport over 90,700 passengers in the 16 days following Tet. Most passengers will travel within the province or to destinations such as Hai Phong, Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, Quang Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City.

The company is also intensifying inspections and controls of vehicles entering the stations to pick up passengers. Vehicles that fail to meet safety and technical standards or are overloaded will not be allowed to depart. Measures are being taken to promote awareness and prevent smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in transport operations.

In coordination with local police, efforts have been increased to prevent theft, overcharging, and the chaos caused by unauthorized operators or rickshaws around the stations. Safety for passengers and vehicles is a top priority, and traffic safety protocols will be strictly adhered to at bus stations to avoid congestion or disorder.

Bus stations are also working with transport companies and vehicle operators to sell tickets through multiple channels, including in-person sales at counters, phone reservations, and online platforms. These services will cater to individuals, organizations, and institutions such as businesses and schools.

During the Tet period, bus operators will also ramp up their services to meet the rising travel demand. According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Hoang, Director of the Nghe An Branch of the Dong Bac Commercial and Construction Joint Stock Company, the company currently has over 120 buses, including 10 reserve vehicles, all of which are ready to operate. Services will resume as early as the second day of Tet to accommodate travelers. Additional trips will be scheduled starting from the fourth and fifth days of Tet, and a hotline will be available to address complaints and feedback.

To meet the growing demand on the Hanoi-Vinh route during the Lunar New Year in 2025, the railway sector will also operate additional passenger trains.

On the Vinh-Hanoi route, extra trains such as NA8 will depart from Vinh station on January 31, 2025, and on February 1 and 2, 2025. Train NA12 will depart on February 1, 2025, while train NA14 will run on February 1 and 2, 2025.

Additional trains will also be operated from Saigon Station to Vinh Station.

The railway sector will offer several ticket discounts for Tet, targeting specific groups such as policy beneficiaries and social welfare recipients. Children aged 6-10 will receive a 25% discount, while children under 6 traveling with adults can ride for free. Each adult can bring up to two children under 6 for free.

Notably, the Nghe An Department of Transport has instructed that ticket prices should not be arbitrarily increased. Any price adjustments must be proposed and approved by the relevant authorities, including the Department of Transport and the Department of Finance.

Meanwhile, police forces across the province, including at district, city, and town levels, have intensified patrols and inspections of passenger transport activities. Violations will be strictly handled to ensure smooth and safe traffic, avoiding congestion and disruptions.
