Nghe An Hosts 30th North Central Region Fine Arts Exhibition

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Representing Nghe An were Comrade Vo Thi Minh Sinh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Nghe An Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of relevant provincial departments; representatives of Literature and Arts Associations from five provinces in the region; as well as numerous artists and art enthusiasts.

The North Central Region Fine Arts Exhibition is a prestigious annual art event and an important gathering for the fine arts community. This marks the fourth time Nghe An has had the honor of hosting the exhibition, bringing together artists from five provinces in the region: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Thua Thien Hue.

The exhibition features 221 outstanding works by 192 artists, carefully selected by the Art Council from hundreds of works created between 2024 and 2025. The works showcase a wide range of genres and materials, including oil painting, lacquer, silk, woodcut, sculpture and mixed media.

Through distinctive artistic perspectives and visual language, the artists portray the region’s natural beauty, rich history and unique cultural traditions, as well as the daily lives of local people and the North Central region’s efforts to grow and thrive in a new era.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Thi My Hanh emphasized: "Literature and the arts in general, and fine arts in particular, always play a particularly important role in the spiritual life of the people. Every valuable work of art carries within it the imprint of its time, the character of its region and the soul of its artist, contributing to the enrichment of Vietnam’s advanced culture imbued with national identity. Hosting this exhibition is both an honor and a responsibility for Nghe An Province toward the development of fine arts across the entire region.”

At the opening ceremony, the Art Council of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association announced and presented awards to nine outstanding works at the exhibition, including one A Prize, one B Prize, one C Prize and six Consolation Prizes. Two additional awards were also presented to young artists.

In addition, the Organizing Committee selected 20 high-quality works to be submitted for consideration for the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations’ awards. The selection recognizes the dedication, creativity and sustained artistic efforts of painters and sculptors across the central region.

The 30th North Central Region Fine Arts Exhibition is not only a celebration of artistic achievements, but also an important professional forum where artists of different generations can meet, exchange ideas and share experience. It also helps identify and nurture young talent, providing fresh momentum for the continued development of fine arts across the region.

The exhibition also helps bring fine arts closer to the public, nurture appreciation for art and inspire love for the homeland and country, particularly among younger generations.

The exhibition is open to the public free of charge, welcoming residents, visitors and art enthusiasts at the Nghe An Provincial Cultural Center.
