Nghe An’s GRDP growth rate for the first 9 months of 2024 projected to reach 7.5-8%

On September 25, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presided over the regular September 2024 meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to discuss and provide opinions on important matters.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee reviewed and commented on the report for the first nine months of the year and the key tasks and solutions for the final three months of 2024, covering various areas: socio-economic development, public investment, state budget revenue and expenditure, and administrative reform.

According to the report, the growth rate of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the third quarter showed positive improvement, higher than in the first and second quarters. Based on estimates, the GRDP growth rate for the first nine months is projected to reach approximately 7.5-8%, with the third quarter alone expected to achieve around 8.5%.

The agricultural sector is estimated to grow by 4-4.2%, the industrial and construction sector by 12.5-13.5%, the service sector by 5.8-6.2%, and product taxes minus product subsidies by 6.7-7.2%.

Agricultural, forestry, and fishery production remained stable. By September, 320 out of 411 communes had met the new-style rural standards; 101 communes had achieved advanced new-style rural standards; 16 communes had achieved exemplary new-style rural standards; and 9 district-level units had met the new-style rural standards.

Total retail sales of goods and export turnover of goods both increased by more than 20%. The number of tourists reached 8.43 million, up 15% year-on-year, with revenue estimated at VND 10,217 billion.

State budget revenue for the first 9 months is estimated at VND 16,671 billion, achieving 104.8% of the forecast and 143.2% compared to the same period in 2023. Budget expenditures are estimated at VND 24,188 billion, reaching 66.9% of the forecast.

Investment attraction activities yielded positive results. As of September 23, the province had granted new licenses for 58 projects with a total registered investment capital of more than VND 18,739 billion. Additionally, there were 30 instances of project capital adjustments, resulting in an increase of over VND 16,802 billion. The total capital from new and adjusted projects was over VND 35,541 billion, equivalent to 85.02% of the same period in 2023.

Throughout the province, 1,533 new businesses were established, up 5.8% compared to the same period in 2023, with total registered capital of VND 17,306 billion, an increase of 29.69%. A total of 625 businesses resumed operations, 84.5% of the same period last year.

As of September 20, a total of VND 5,022 billion had been disbursed from the public investment plan, reaching 54.14%, with VND 2,322 billion disbursed from provincial-level public investment funds, achieving 48.09%.

In the fields of culture and society, the overall quality of education continued to affirm its position among the top in the nation. Nghe An ranked 4th nationwide for the number of national outstanding students and 12th nationwide for high school graduation exam results, moving up 10 ranks compared to 2023.

Efforts in administrative reform and digital transformation were actively directed and showed significant results. Both the administrative reform index and the public satisfaction index for government administrative services improved. National defense, security, and public order were maintained.
