Vice Chairman of the PPC Bui Dinh Long attends Green Economy Forum and Exhibition 2022

(Baonghean.vn) -  From November 28 to 30, Mr. Bui Dinh Long, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City. The event is organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (Eurocham).

This is an important event to promote green technology and green solutions in Vietnam. Nghe An participated in displaying booths promoting investment, trade and tourism promotion of the province at the exhibition.

GEFE 2022 brings together leading organizations and individuals in the field of business and sustainable management. The 3-day event features a series of conferences, exhibitions and high-level B2B and B2G dialogue sessions, along with EuroCham Vietnam Sustainability Awards 2022 and annual Gala Dinner. This is a platform to strengthen cooperation between the European and Vietnamese business communities, promote Vietnam’s economy to develop in a green and sustainable way through initiatives, expertise sharing and technology transfer. Along with that, GEFE will attract more than 150 participating enterprises, with a total area of more than 5,000 m2.

The plenary session took place on the first day of GEFE 2022 with the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan, Mr. Virginijus Sinkevicius - European Commissioner, for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Mr. Alain Cany - President of EuroCham... and delegations representing ministries and agencies in Vietnam and the European Union.

In his opening speech, Mr. Alain Cany - President of EuroCham highly appreciated that many companies and manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam focus on environmental protection. The government is also strongly committed to sustainable development strategies and environmental protection. The President of EuroCham said that green development is an inevitable global trend. The main objective of GEFE 2022 is to support Vietnam in meeting its COP26 commitments and achieving the development goals outlined in the National Strategy for Green Growth in the period of 2021-2030.

In his directing speech at the Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Vietnam has approved a green development strategy and is 1 of 5 countries greatly affected by climate change, thus green development and combating climate change are very important for Vietnam. In terms of green development, Vietnam has made commitments together with other countries around the world. For example, Vietnam along with 150 countries committed to bringing net emissions to zero by 2050, and joined 150 countries in the global adaptation alliance.

On the basis of the EU strengthening support for green growth, investment promotion, trade and tourism in Vietnam, it is believed that localities of Vietnam including Nghe An will be reliable destinations for EU investors.

During the trip, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long will attend a meeting with Eurocham Vietnam on the morning of November 29.
