Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted receives Second-Class Independence Medal

On the morning of September 22, in Vinh city, Nghe An province, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted held a ceremony to celebrate its 50th anniversary (1974 - 2024), the 60th anniversary of its specialized education system, and to receive the Second-Class Independence Medal.

Following the Government's Decision No. 198/CP on September 14, 1965, the first special mathematics classes were established in Nghe An from the academic year 1965-1966. By the academic year 1969-1970, special literature classes were also formed, laying the foundation for the establishment of the province’s specialized high school.

On October 15, 1974, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee announced the decision to establish the Specialized High School, based on merging Provincial the specialized literature and mathematics classes from Do Luong II High School and Thanh Chuong I High School. This school was the predecessor of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Over the course of 50 years since its founding and 60 years of specialized education, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted has continuously expanded. The school has excellently fulfilled its mission of discovering, training, and nurturing generations of outstanding and talented students, becoming a place that inspires dreams and aspirations, and a hub for the talents of Nghe An province. Currently, the school has 45 classes with more than 1,500 students annually.

Throughout its 60-year development, generations of teachers and students have achieved outstanding accomplishments, honoring the school named after the patriotic scholar Phan Boi Chau and contributing to the tradition of academic excellence in Nghe An.

In recognition of its exceptional achievements and significant contributions, the school has been awarded prestigious awards, including the Third-Class Labor Medal (1994), the Second-Class Labor Medal (1999, 2023), the First-Class Labor Medal (2004) ), the Third-Class Independence Medal (2009), the title of Labor Hero (2013), and being honored twice in the Vietnam Glory Program (2007, 2013).

Notably, during the ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the school's founding and the 60th anniversary of its specialized education system, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted was honored to receive the Second-Class Independence Medal.

In the speech at the ceremony, the provincial leader of Nghe An acknowledged, congratulated, and commended the efforts and achievements of generations of teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted over the years.

Emphasizing that 50 years marks the end of one chapter but also opens a new phase with a new vision and expectations for a new position, the provincial leader urges the school's staff and students to strive even harder, continue to elevate the school to new heights, affirms its stature and position as a heroic unit with a rich tradition, in line with the demands of education in the current era and expanding its integration into the international community.
