The UAE is composed of seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Dubai). The UAE has the second-largest economy in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) (after Saudi Arabia), with a GDP of approximately $415 billion (1.83 trillion AED) in 2022. It ranks 26th globally as the best place for business, based on economic and regulatory environment criteria.
The UAE’s key industry is oil extraction and processing, producing about 3.046 million barrels per day, of which 2 million barrels are exported daily. Other important industries include petrochemicals, fisheries, aluminum, cement, fertilizers, ship repair, construction materials, shipbuilding, and textiles.
The UAE is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the Middle East-North Africa region and Vietnam's seventh-largest export market, following the US, China, Hong Kong (China), Japan, South Korea, and Germany. Vietnam is the UAE’s largest partner within ASEAN.
In recent years, the UAE has been one of the major investors from the Gulf region in Vietnam, with committed projects such as Hiep Phuoc Port, Halong Star Hotel, and several tourism projects in DaNang. The UAE ranks 45th out of 148 countries and territories with investment in Vietnam, with a total of 40 projects and a total investment of $71.7 million.
Currently, around 3,500 Vietnamese workers are legally employed in the UAE, primarily in construction, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, and services.
During their visit to the UAE, the delegation met and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Abu Dhabi to exchange information about trade, import-export, and investment cooperation between the UAE and Vietnam.
