Nghe An Provincial People's Committee donates to the ‘Tet for the Poor’ Program for the Lunar New Year

In preparation for the New Year and the Lunar New Year of 2025, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasized that all levels, sectors, and localities must adhere to the directive's spirit and strictly implement Directive No. 40 of the Secretariat and Directive No. 45 of the Prime Minister. He also directed compliance with the relevant documents issued by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to organize activities and programs ensuring that people celebrate the Tet festival joyfully, healthily, safely, and economically, leaving no one without Tet celebrations.

Secretary cum Chairman Nguyen Duc Trung also instructed all levels, sectors, and localities to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to mobilize resources and promote the spirit of mutual affection and support to care for and assist disadvantaged individuals, poor households and solitary households to ensure that everyone has a Tet celebration.

Special emphasis was placed on expediting the construction and repair of homes for poor households and those facing housing difficulties before the Lunar New Year. Additionally, the effective implementation of policies for people with meritorious service, policy families and social welfare for vulnerable groups was stressed.

The province also planned cultural and sports programs to welcome the New Year, celebrate founding anniversary of the Party, and celebrate spring in a joyful, healthy, safe, effective and practical manner. It focused on disease prevention and control, ensuring traffic safety, maintaining public order and security, especially before, during, and after the Lunar New Year of 2025.

Earlier, on December 19, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued a plan to ensure the implementation of policies for people with meritorious service to the revolution and social welfare during the Lunar New Year of 2025.

The province plans to allocate over 68.578 billion VND to implement policies for visiting and presenting gifts during the Lunar New Year of 2025 to organizations and individuals in the locality, with special attention to people with meritorious service to the revolution, poor, near-poor households, social welfare beneficiaries and children in particularly difficult circumstances.

This includes gifts from the President for 79,911 people with meritorious service to the revolution and relatives of martyrs, with an estimated budget of 24.485 billion VND provided by the central government.

The provincial budget is expected to allocate over 6.836 billion VND to support Tet celebrations, anniversaries and address unexpected issues in Nghe An province. Additionally, it will celebrate 64,846 elderly people with an estimated budget of over 19.563 billion VND.

Furthermore, district and communal budgets will allocate over 17.592 billion VND to present Tet gifts to 58,642 individuals during the Lunar New Year of 2025.
