During his working trip to Nghe An province, General Secretary To Lam carried out a wide range of meaningful activities, highlighting his respect for national traditions, care for meritorious individuals, and attention to education and cultural development.
On the morning of May 15, shortly after arriving in Nghe An, the General Secretary held a working session with the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee.Following the session, he and the central and provincial delegations visited Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Sau, 102 years old, residing in Block 13, Ben Thuy ward, Vinh City.General Secretary visited Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Sau, 102 years old, residing in Block 13, Ben Thuy ward, Vinh City.Mother Sau has three sons, two of whom – Le Huy Minh and Le Huy Truong – are martyrs. Martyr Minh sacrificed his life during the 81-day battle of Quang Tri Citadel on July 11, 1972, while Martyr Truong was killed on June 9, 1965, while rescuing wounded soldiers on a naval ship at Ben Thuy port, which was bombed by American aircraft.General Secretary To Lam kindly inquired about Mother Sau’s health and expressed his joy at her well-being. He extended deep gratitude for the immense sacrifices and contributions made by her and her family during the resistance wars and peacetime.Later, the General Secretary visited Kim Lien High School in Nam Dan district and presented a STEM education practice room to the school.In a conversation with officials, teachers, and students, he emphasized the importance of focusing on education and training from early childhood, nurturing students to become individuals with political awareness, loyalty, patriotism, knowledge, scientific understanding, health, and good character.He expressed hope that teachers and students would uphold the traditions of their homeland and achieve greater accomplishments. He also encouraged students to strive to become worthy future leaders of the country.The General Secretary expressed his wish that every school in Nghe An would be equipped with a STEM practice room to help students master science and technology — key to national development in the modern era.On this occasion, students of Kim Lien High School presented General Secretary To Lam with a portrait they had drawn themselves in the STEM classroom.General Secretary To Lam and Party, State, and provincial leaders also attended a ceremony to unveil the sculpture “Vietnam – Golden Pages of History”.This light sculpture takes the shape of a history book, symbolizing Vietnamese history as a golden chronicle, with President Ho Chi Minh having written its most glorious pages. This is not only a typical work of art but also a sacred symbol of affection, gratitude, and special respect for him.This monolithic bronze statue, standing 12.5 meters tall, is modeled after a photograph taken during President Ho Chi Minh’s second visit to his hometown in 1961.
