This annual event—organized under the guidance of the Department of e-Commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade)—brought together more than 1,500 delegates from government agencies, enterprises, and industry experts at home and abroad.

A key highlight was the announcement of the 2025 e-Business Index (EBI) rankings by province. Nghe An Province once again topped the North Central region and jumped four places to rank 12th nationwide compared with 2024. This achievement reflects Nghe An’s vigorous efforts to promote e-commerce adoption, upgrade its IT infrastructure, and boost the competitiveness of local businesses.

The EBI is calculated from three component indices: Human resources and IT infrastructure; B2C e-commerce transactions (business-to-consumer); and B2B e-commerce transactions (business-to-business).

These components follow the Network Readiness Assessment Framework developed by the Harvard Center for International Development.

As the provincial management agency, the Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade—together with other local authorities—has played a pivotal role in policy formulation, rolling out training programs in e-commerce skills, and encouraging digital transformation among enterprises.

According to the report, 46% of Nghe An enterprises now maintain their own websites. 75% of these integrate online-interaction features via platforms such as Zalo and Facebook, significantly enhancing customer experience. Key sectors—retail, agriculture, and handicrafts—have leveraged e-commerce to expand both domestic and international market reach.

Looking ahead, the Department of Industry and Trade has outlined a series of coordinated measures to sustain rapid and sustainable growth: Deepen partnerships with major e-commerce and technology platforms (e.g., Shopee, TikTok, Lazada, Alibaba, Amazon) to help local businesses access wider markets; Deliver advanced training in online export strategies; Promote “green e-commerce” practices to support eco-friendly digital trade.

Nghe An’s continued leadership in the EBI underscores the province’s commitment to harnessing digital innovation and fostering a vibrant e-commerce ecosystem.
