Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Thong - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Hoang Nghia Hieu - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and representatives of several related departments and agencies.

The Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party agreed to allow the International Transport Development Investment Joint Stock Company (ITID) to invest in constructing 3 berths, including 2 berths for ships up to 50,000 DWT and 1 berth for ships up to 100,000 DWT, with a total berth length of 800 meters and supporting infrastructure such as a 1,550-meter breakwater, a connecting bridge to the berth, a ship channel, a turning basin, and docking areas.

Compared to the project scale previously approved by the Standing Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party in February 2023, the project will have an additional berth, an extended breakwater, and an increased capacity for Cua Lo Deep-Water Port to accommodate ships with a maximum load of 50,000 DWT up to 100,000 DWT.

The port's hinterland area will also be adjusted, increasing the land use area from 20 hectares to 32 hectares to build facilities such as container yards, a CFS (Container Freight Station) area, warehouses, general cargo yards, bulk cargo yards, internal roads, parking lots, and fuel stations.

Additionally, the sea area usage for the deep-water port zone will increase from 200 hectares to 208.15 hectares to construct offshore port facilities, including berths, breakwaters, connecting bridges, a turning basin, and shipping channels.

The previous total investment for the project was 3,896 billion VND. However, to adjust the port scale, the total investment for the Cua Lo Deep-Water Port project has been increased to 7,324.956 billion VND, divided into two phases.

In phase 1 (2024 - 2028), with nearly 5,251 billion VND, the project will invest in berth No. 6 and berth No. 7 (50,000 DWT), construct a 1,200-meter breakwater, build connecting bridge No. 1, the ship channel, maritime aids, roads, and associated architectural and infrastructure facilities.

In phase 2 (2029 - 2030), with over 2,074 billion VND, the project will invest in berth No. 5 (100,000 DWT), construct an additional 350-meter breakwater, build connecting bridge No. 2, roads, and associated architectural and technical infrastructure.

The project is being implemented in the North Cua Lo berth area, Nghe An seaport, in Nghi Thiet commune, Nghi Loc district, linked to the Southeast Economic Zone to meet the import-export requirements of goods serving the socio-economic development of Nghe An province and neighboring areas.

The investor estimates that once the project is operational, it will handle approximately 9.5 million tons of cargo annually, contributing an average of 100 billion VND per year to the State budget.
