Nghe An recovers 65 sets of Vietnamese Martyrs’ remains in Laos during the 2024–2025 dry season
Over the course of nearly six months during the 2024–2025 dry season, the Remains Recovery Team of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command has located and recovered a total of 65 sets of remains belonging to Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Laos.
On April 12, the team reported the discovery and recovery of one set of remains along with several personal belongings at coordinates 18.490 - 79.800, in the Tham Xe mountain area, Loong Cheng village, Loong Cheng district, Xaysomboun province, Laos.

The remains were found over one meter beneath the surface, with bones largely intact, accompanied by several artifacts including an AK ammunition box, a multi-purpose shovel, an M04 gas mask, and the soles of Vietnamese military canvas shoes.
The remains have been transported for burial and commemoration at the Memorial House for President Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese martyrs—volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos—located in Phonsavan town, Xiangkhouang province.
The team continues to expand the search in surrounding areas.

As of April 12, 2025, the team has successfully recovered 65 sets of remains during the 2024–2025 dry season.
Specifically, 58 were recovered in Xiangkhouang province, six in Xaysomboun province, and one in Vientiane province.
All remains have been transferred to the Memorial House in Phonsavan for proper burial, honoring the fallen and reaffirming the profound gratitude and special solidarity between the peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
