Vinh Airport to close from July 1 to Dec 31, 2025

According to the notice, on June 20, 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued Official Notice No. 2319/CHK-QLC regarding the temporary closure of Vinh Airport to facilitate the execution of Bidding Package No. 11, part of the project to repair the runway and taxiway.

The temporary suspension of operations will begin from 00:00 on July 1, 2025, until the end of December 31, 2025.

This is a crucial part of the infrastructure modernization plan aimed at ensuring flight safety and enhancing operational capacity in the future.

The CAAV has instructed the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Vinh Airport to strictly adhere to legal regulations on investment and construction. The units must coordinate with the construction contractor to ensure all plans for safety, fire prevention, environmental hygiene, and disease control are maintained throughout the construction period.

This repair project is part of a long-term plan to improve the quality of aviation infrastructure in the Central region, preparing for future trends in tourism, logistics, and regional connectivity. Upon completion, Vinh Airport is expected to better meet the operational needs of airlines, creating conditions for Nghe An to enhance its ability to attract investment, tourists, and integrate with the regional economy.

The temporary closure of Vinh Airport will certainly have a significant impact on the air travel needs of residents and tourists coming to Nghe An in the second half of 2025, especially during peak periods such as National Day (September 2), Christmas, and the year-end. Airlines will adjust their schedules, guide passengers on exchanging or refunding tickets, and recommend that people consider using nearby airports as an alternative.
