Born on September 30, 1910, in a land rich in patriotic and revolutionary traditions, at the age of 16, with the fervor of youth, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai (real name Nguyen Thi Vinh) overcame all feudal constraints and surpassing the knowledge and life of other girls of her time, determined to embark on the revolutionary path filled with hardships.
In the summer of 1927, she became the first woman in Vinh - Ben Thuy to join the Hoi Hung Nam and was elected to its Executive Committee, responsible for women's mobilization. From here, many women in Nghe An were enlightened by her, becoming the "red seeds" fueling the revolutionary cause.
In early 1930, introduced by the Central Committee to the North and then to China, she served as Secretary to Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc at the Office of the Oriental Branch of the Communist International.
In 1935, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai was appointed as an official delegate to the 7th Congress of the Communist International in Moscow, USSR. After the congress, she was introduced to study at the Communist International's University of the East.
In 1937, returning to the country, she was assigned to work at the Southern Regional Committee and was appointed by the Central Committee of the Party to the position of Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon City Party Committee.
On July 30, 1940, while preparing for an armed uprising with the Southern Regional Committee, she was captured by the enemy. Recognizing her as a key official, the French colonialists used all kinds of brutal torture to force her to reveal the Party organization but failed to break the iron will of the indomitable woman.
At dawn on August 26, 1941, the French colonialists executed Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai at Gieng Nuoc Hospital, now Hoc Mon District Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City.
On the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai's death, in a sacred atmosphere, Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy and the delegation offered ceremonies, flowers, and incense, expressed their deep respect and infinite gratitude for the great contributions of revolutionary Nguyen Thi Minh Khai - an outstanding person of Nghe An, Secretary of the Saigon - Cho Lon City Party Committee, an excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, a heroic martyr who sacrificed her life for the nation.
Her indomitable spirit on the way to the execution ground, her heroic sacrifice has touched millions of patriotic hearts; she remains an immortal symbol of Vietnamese womanhood.
Her noble ideals, steadfast character, and simple, pure morality live on with Nghe An; with the people of Saigon - Gia Dinh (now Ho Chi Minh City), where she dedicated, fought to the last breath, and heroically sacrificed; living forever in the memory of our people, with our country and homeland.
