The Industrial Production Index (IPI) for June 2025 increased by 18.42% compared to the same period in 2024. By sector, this includes: Electricity generation and distribution, gas, hot water, steam, and air conditioning: up 38%; Mining and quarrying: up 28.99%; Processing and manufacturing: up 15.79%; Water supply and management and treatment of waste and wastewater: up 12.09% year-on-year.
In June 2025, businesses ramped up production and expanded their operations, with many new projects becoming operational and contributing to the province's economic growth.
Alongside these positive developments, some businesses still faced difficulties, including declining exports, rising input material costs, a slow consumer market, and raw material shortages, difficulty selling finished products and failing to meet planned output and revenue targets.
Overall, for the first six months of 2025, the industrial production index increased by 14.67% compared to the same period in 2024. By sector, this includes: generation and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam, and air conditioning: up over 27%; mining and quarrying: up 18%; processing and manufacturing: up over 13%; water supply and management and treatment of waste and wastewater: up nearly 11% year-on-year.
The growth in the industrial production index was attributed to businesses' efforts to return to full production capacity, new orders signed by some factories at the beginning of the year, increased exports, and some products finding stable consumer markets.
Products with significant growth include: microphones: estimated at 116.6 million units, a 5.5-fold increase; headphones (without microphone): estimated at 33 million units, up 43.96%; electricity production: estimated at 1,594 million kWh, up 42%; charging docks: estimated at 9.8 million units, up 32.58%; yogurt: estimated at 28.3 thousand tons, up 23%; other electrical wire and cable manufacturing services: VND 4,792.3 billion, up 22%; sugar: estimated at 122.2 thousand tons, up over 19%.
On the other hand, some sectors saw a decline due to a drop in export orders, large inventories, and high production costs, which led factories to limit production to focus on selling existing products.
Products with a significant decrease include: yarn: down over 40%; wood shavings and chips: down 37%; fish sauce: down 28%; bottled beer: down 19.48%; cardboard boxes: down 12%; roofing sheets: down 8.32%; NPK chemical fertilizer: down 7%; canned beer: down 5.24%.
